Description
Miso Butter Salmon is a delicious and easy-to-make dish featuring tender salmon fillets topped with a flavorful miso butter sauce. This recipe combines the umami richness of white miso paste with creamy butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, and fresh green onions, baked to perfection and finished with a quick broil for a caramelized top.
Ingredients
Salmon
- 2 salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
Miso Butter Sauce
- 3 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons white miso paste
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the salmon.
- Prepare Miso Butter: In a bowl, combine room temperature butter, white miso paste, brown sugar, soy sauce, and sliced green onions. Mash together well until they are evenly mixed into a smooth miso butter mixture.
- Prepare Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and remove any pin bones to ensure a clean and pleasant eating experience.
- Apply Miso Butter: Spread the prepared miso butter mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet. Place the fillets in an ovenproof skillet to allow cooking and easy sauce pouring later.
- Bake Salmon: Cook the salmon in the preheated oven for 14 to 15 minutes until it is nearly cooked through.
- Broil for Caramelization: Broil the salmon fillets for an additional 1 to 2 minutes on top to caramelize the miso butter, giving the dish a beautiful golden and flavorful crust.
- Serve: Plate the salmon and drizzle any melted miso butter sauce from the skillet over the top. Optionally, garnish with extra green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Use an ovenproof skillet to cook the salmon. This makes it easy to pour the melted miso butter over the fillets after cooking.
- Salted butter is recommended; if you use unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to the miso butter mixture to maintain the right seasoning balance.
- You can cook this recipe on the stovetop as an alternative. Sear the salmon, then add miso butter at the end of cooking to melt, finishing the salmon by spooning the butter over the fillets.
- Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness and size of the salmon fillets, so adjust accordingly to ensure the fish is cooked through but still tender.
