Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup minced red onion
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
- 1 egg, beaten
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Fresh cracked pepper, to taste
For Serving
- 4 wheat buns
- Homemade Creamy Dill Yogurt Sauce
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced red onion
- Sliced tomato
- Crumbled feta cheese
Instructions
- Heat the Pan: Heat 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the turkey patties.
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 lb. ground turkey, 4 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley, 1/4 cup minced red onion, 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese, 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, 1 beaten egg, a few pinches of kosher salt, and a large pinch of fresh cracked pepper. Mix thoroughly but avoid overworking the meat to ensure a tender burger texture.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixture evenly into 4 equal-sized burger patties, shaping them gently to maintain their tenderness.
- Cook the Burgers: Place the patties in the heated pan and sauté them for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they develop a golden brown crust and are cooked through to a safe internal temperature (165°F/74°C).
- Assemble and Serve: Place each cooked turkey burger on a wheat bun and top with homemade creamy dill yogurt sauce, lettuce leaves, sliced red onion, sliced tomato, and crumbled feta cheese. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Don’t over mix the meat! Mix the ingredients thoroughly but handle the mixture as little as possible to avoid tough burgers.
- These burgers are great on the grill too! If grilling, oil the grill grate thoroughly to prevent sticking since ground turkey is leaner and more prone to sticking than ground beef.
- Using feta cheese adds saltiness, so add salt sparingly when seasoning the meat mixture.
