Description

Philly Steak Cheese Fries are the ultimate comfort food, combining crispy waffle fries, juicy steak, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese for a Philly cheesesteak-inspired dish served on fries.

Ingredients

450 g steak, thinly sliced

1 teaspoon garlic salt

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 onion, sliced

8 to 10 slices White American cheese

567 g bag frozen waffle cut fries

1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F) for the fries.
  2. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Once the oil is hot, cook the thinly sliced steak, seasoning with garlic salt and black pepper, until browned on all sides. Remove the steak and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reserve about a tablespoon of the cooking liquid and discard the rest. Add sliced bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook until tender but still a bit crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Spread the frozen waffle fries evenly in the skillet. Top with four slices of White American cheese, followed by the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables. Finish with the remaining cheese slices.
  5. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving hot.

Notes

For added flavor, sauté mushrooms with the bell pepper and onions.

Add sliced jalapeños to the vegetable mix for a spicy version.

Switch up the cheese with provolone, cheddar, or mozzarella for a different taste.

For a loaded version, add ranch dressing or bacon bits on top.
