Description

Crispy, flavorful homemade Doritos made by frying tortilla triangles tossed in a bold ranch and smoked paprika seasoning blend.


Ingredients

1/2 pack (15 pieces) corn or flour tortillas

2 tbsp ranch seasoning

1 tbsp smoked paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp granulated sugar

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp salt


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ranch seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, sugar, onion powder, and salt to create the seasoning mix.
  2. Slice the tortillas into 6-8 equal triangles.
  3. Heat oil to 350°F (180°C) in a deep pan or fryer.
  4. Fry the tortilla triangles on both sides for 3-4 minutes until crispy and golden.
  5. Remove chips and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  6. While still warm, toss chips in the seasoning mix until evenly coated.
  7. Repeat frying and seasoning with remaining tortilla pieces until all are done.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake chips at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway.

Try swapping ranch seasoning for taco seasoning or chili lime for different flavors.

Add nutritional yeast or grated Parmesan for a cheesy twist.

Use whole wheat or flavored tortillas for varied textures and tastes.

For spicier chips, add cayenne pepper or chipotle powder to the seasoning.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Reheat chips briefly in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 3-5 minutes to refresh crispness.
