This classic Mexican guacamole is creamy, fresh, and packed with vibrant flavors from ripe avocados, cilantro, onion, jalapeño, and a hint of lime juice, perfect as a dip or topping.
Ingredients
2 ripe avocados
1 Roma tomato, diced (optional)
1 jalapeño pepper, diced
¼ cup chopped cilantro
¼ small onion, finely diced
½ lime, juiced, plus more as needed
½ teaspoon kosher salt, plus more as needed
Instructions
- Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Mash the avocados with a fork, potato masher, or molcajete to desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
- Stir in chopped cilantro, diced tomato (if using), finely diced onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and salt.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more lime juice or salt as needed.
Notes
Omit tomato for a smoother guacamole.
Use diced red onion or green onions for different onion flavor.
Add a pinch of cumin or smoked paprika for smoky notes.
Mix in chopped mango or pineapple for a fruity twist.
Adjust jalapeño quantity to control spiciness.
