Ingredients
Pasta
- 8 oz dry Fusilli Corti Bucati Pasta (Bucatini Pasta) or any pasta shape you prefer
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean Red Chili Pepper Paste Sauce)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced or pressed)
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup shredded parmesan or cheddar cheese
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)
Garnish
- 2 teaspoons chopped parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Pasta Preparation: Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add salt if desired to season the pasta water. Add the Bucatini pasta to the boiling water and cook for 7 to 12 minutes or until the pasta reaches your preferred level of tenderness. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
- Prepare the Gochujang Pasta Cream Sauce: In a sauté pan over medium heat, melt the salted butter and add the olive oil. Once heated, add the minced garlic and optional freshly ground black pepper. Sauté for 30 to 60 seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant, taking care not to let it burn.
- Make the Sauce: Stir in the gochujang paste, heavy cream, and shredded parmesan or cheddar cheese into the pan. Cook the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring continuously until the sauce becomes slightly thickened and creamy.
- Combine Pasta with Sauce: Add the cooked Bucatini pasta into the sauce pan. Toss well to ensure all the pasta is evenly coated with the gochujang cream sauce.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the coated pasta to serving plates. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness. Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy, creamy fusion dish!
Notes
- Storage/Leftovers: Store cooked Gochujang pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days, ensuring it has cooled completely before refrigerating.
- Pairing Proteins: Add grilled chicken, shrimp, tofu, or ground beef for a more substantial meal.
- Veggies: Incorporate sautéed or roasted vegetables such as bell peppers, zucchini, or mushrooms to enhance texture and freshness.
- Make it Vegan: Substitute heavy cream with plant-based milk like almond, coconut, or soy milk and use vegan protein alternatives like mushrooms or tempeh.
- Experiment with Noodles: Feel free to use regular pasta, ramen, rice noodles, or any noodle of your choice instead of bucatini.
- Serving Suggestions: Korean-style pickled radishes (Danmuji), fresh herbs like cilantro or Thai basil, and kimchi make excellent complementary sides to the dish.
