Description

Garlic Sesame Noodles is a flavorful, easy-to-make Asian-inspired dish featuring brown rice noodles tossed in a rich garlic and sesame sauce. This recipe combines sautéed garlic, a balanced blend of soy sauce, tahini, honey, and sriracha for a savory, slightly sweet, and mildly spicy taste. Perfect as a quick lunch or dinner, it’s garnished with scallions, red pepper flakes, and crushed peanuts for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Noodles

  • 12 ounces brown rice noodles

Garlic Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (avocado, olive, or refined coconut oil)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced very finely or pressed
  • 1/4-1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable broth
  • 1 ½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 teaspoons sriracha
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

Garnishes

  • Scallions, sliced
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Crushed peanuts

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the brown rice noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare garlic: Mince the garlic very finely or use a garlic press to achieve a super fine texture since the sauce will not be blended.
  3. Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to a pan with the neutral oil (such as avocado, olive, or refined coconut oil). Sauté over medium heat until the edges of the garlic turn golden brown, releasing aromatic flavors.
  4. Mix sauce ingredients: While the garlic sautés, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce or tamari, vegetable broth, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, honey or maple syrup, tahini, sriracha, and ground ginger in a bowl until smooth with no clumps.
  5. Combine sauce and garlic: Pour the prepared sauce mixture into the pan with the sautéed garlic and stir well to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
  6. Simmer sauce: Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens slightly and flavors meld together.
  7. Toss noodles with sauce: Add the cooked noodles into the pan with the sauce. Toss well ensuring all noodles are evenly coated in the garlic sesame sauce.
  8. Garnish and serve: Transfer the noodles to serving dishes and garnish with sliced scallions, red pepper flakes, and crushed peanuts for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use low sodium soy sauce or tamari to prevent the dish from becoming too salty. Adjust quantity between 1/4 to 1/3 cup based on personal taste sensitivity to salt.
  • The neutral oil is used only for sautéing garlic; suitable options include avocado, olive, or refined coconut oil.
  • The recipe as written is mildly spicy. Feel free to increase sriracha or red pepper flakes to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Garlic Sesame Noodles will keep fresh for up to 5 days if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • If adding vegetables, chicken, tofu, or other mix-ins, consider doubling the sauce recipe to ensure the noodles are sufficiently coated.
