Description
Crispy on the outside and melty on the inside, these Air Fried Babybel Cheese bites are a quick and delicious snack that’s easy to prepare. Coated in flour, eggs, and Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, then air fried to golden perfection, they offer a satisfying crunch without the need for deep frying.
Ingredients
Cheese
- 1 package Babybel cheese
Coating
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, whisked
- 1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
Finishing
- Olive oil spray (for lightly spritzing)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cheese: Remove the wrapper and wax packaging around each piece of Babybel cheese and set them aside to be coated.
- Set Up Dipping Stations: Arrange three shallow bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Coat the Cheese: Dip each cheese round first into the flour, coating lightly. Next, dip it into the whisked eggs to ensure the coating adheres well. Finally, dip it thoroughly into the breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness and to prevent melting, double dip the cheese in breadcrumbs.
- Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly spritz both sides of the coated cheese rounds with olive oil spray. Place them in the air fryer basket without overlapping, working in batches if necessary.
- Air Fry: Cook the cheese bites at 380°F (193°C) for 8-10 minutes. Flip halfway through cooking to ensure even golden brown crispiness.
- Serve Warm: Remove the crispy cheese bites from the air fryer and enjoy immediately while warm and gooey inside.
Notes
- Double dipping in breadcrumbs helps keep the cheese inside and creates an extra crunchy coating.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Serve these cheese bites with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for added flavor.
- Use a light olive oil spray to avoid excess oil and keep the snack lighter.
