Delight in these crispy Cinnamon-Sugar Air Fryer Banana Chips—a sweet, healthier snack made with ripe bananas, a touch of cinnamon, and coconut sugar. Perfectly air fried for a crunchy texture without the guilt of deep frying.
Ingredients
Banana Chips
- 2 medium ripe bananas (firm, yellow with minimal spotting)
- 1 tablespoon coconut sugar or brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Cooking spray (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into uniform thin rounds about 1/8 inch thick to ensure even cooking and crispness.
- Preheat and Prep the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 330°F (165°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or line it with perforated parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Mix the Cinnamon and Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the coconut sugar or brown sugar with the ground cinnamon and set aside.
- Coat the Banana Slices: Place the banana slices in a mixing bowl and gently toss them with the cinnamon-sugar mixture until lightly and evenly coated.
- Air Fry in Batches: Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket or tray, making sure they do not overlap. Air fry for 10 to 14 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through the cooking time for even crisping.
- Check for Crispness: When the banana chips are golden brown and crisp around the edges, they are done. Depending on the thickness of the slices and your air fryer model, you may need an additional 2 to 3 minutes of cooking.
- Cool and Crisp: Transfer the chips to a wire rack and let them cool for 5 to 10 minutes. They will become even more crisp as they cool down.
Notes
- Use firm bananas: Overripe bananas are too soft and may become mushy instead of crispy.
- Slice evenly: Uniform thin slices ensure consistent texture and prevent burning.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper airflow; cook in batches if necessary for best results.
