Description

Homemade Croissant Rolls are buttery, flaky, and light croissants that are easy to make with a simple dough recipe, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon treat.

Ingredients

400 g flour

7 g instant yeast

15 g granulated sugar

7 g salt

35 ml sunflower oil

225 ml warm water

40 g butter (for spreading)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, sunflower oil, and warm water. Mix the ingredients well and knead the dough for about 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  2. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out one portion of the dough into a round sheet. Repeat the same with the second portion of dough.
  4. Spread the softened butter over one dough sheet. Place the second dough sheet on top, and cut the dough stack into 12 equal-sized triangles.
  5. Shape the croissants by gently stretching each triangle and rolling from the wide base towards the tip.
  6. Place the shaped croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). Once the croissants have risen, bake them for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the croissants from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

For stuffed croissants, add a filling like chocolate, almond paste, or ham and cheese before rolling them up.

You can make mini croissants for a fun appetizer or snack.

Use herb-infused butter or garlic butter to brush the croissants for extra flavor.

To make the dough ahead of time, allow it to rise in the fridge overnight. Bring it to room temperature before continuing.

Frozen croissants can be baked directly from the freezer; just let them rise before baking.
